Exporting
Because we feel a responsibility to each animal under our care and because we want every customer to receive healthy well adjusted animals we have in place an intensive PRE EXPORT CONDITIONING program for all animals scheduled for export.
Pre Export Conditioning Program
At the time a customer's deposit is received all animals scheduled to
be shipped begin the PRE EXPORT CONDITIONING PROGRAM. We prefer this
to commence at least thirty days prior to shipment. However, if less
time is allowed we will make every effort to adjust the program to
give each animal the best advantage possible for a safe and healthy
arrival to their new destination.
Depending on age, all Bucks will be penned together and all Does will be penned together. This will allow for the animals to develop their order of heirachy prior to arrival at their new home.

Three weeks prior to shipment each animal will receive an additional CD/T booster. Ten days prior to shipment each animal will receive a five day coccidiosis treatment. We use Albon, the most effective product we have found against coccidia. This is done in an effort to lessen the chance that the stress of the journey will give rise to coccidiosis. Five days prior to shipment, at the end of the coccidiosis treatment, each animal will receive a dose of the deworming product being used at that time in our rotation . Five days prior to shipment all animals are put on a supplemental program of Transition Powder, a powerful probiotic, along with a water soluble B - vitamin complex added to their water. This B-vitamin powder is sent with the animals on air deliveries and also sent along with them on ground transportation. This is done in an effort to eliminate the animals going 'off water' as they sometimes do when so many things are being changed at once. The B - vitamins may also assist in deterring the incidence of stress related polioencephalomalacia. Beginning at forty eight hours prior to shipment all animals are given two doses of ÎCaptureâ, a natural product, which is comprised of a range of mannan-based oligsaccharides derived from yeast that has been shown to manipulate the bacterial population of the tract in animals. These sugars act as binding sites for pathogens, blocking binding to the gut wall where they colonize and cause problems. These pathogens have an increased opportunity to get a foot hold when animals are under stress. Administering the Capture gives each animal the Îcompetitive edgeâ to assist in keeping the rumen environment healthy. Twenty Four hours prior to shipment grain is with held and good quality roughage will continue to be fed. |
